Our favorite wine and cheese pairings for you to try

If you’re anything like us, you probably love wine. The right wine can take any meal from good to great, any occasion from fun to unforgettable. One of our favorite ways to enjoy wine is with a delicious cheese pairing. Wine and cheese go together like peanut butter and jelly- it just works. Here are a few of our must-try wine and cheese pairings to enjoy during your next night in!

Sauvignon Blanc & Goat Cheese

The fruity and citrus notes in Sauvignon Blanc really complement most goat cheeses, as they are typically quite earthy and heavy. Moon Tree Sauvignon Blanc is a great option for pairing with goat cheese, and with flavors of tangerine, pineapple, and gooseberry, our Sauv Blanc brings a tropical element that will taste delightful with this particular type of cheese.

Cabernet Sauvignon & Aged Cheddar

With a cheese as bold and commanding as aged cheddar, the wine you choose needs to be strong enough to stand on its own. Moon Tree Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely a standout wine, with notes of caramel, toasted oak, and sweet tobacco combined with red fruits, like cherry. With a strong Cabernet Sauvignon, a fatty cheese like aged cheddar will pair well to create an overall stunning experience.

Chardonnay & Brie

Brie is one of the most decadent and luxurious cheeses, so it’s only natural that the wine you pair it with is just as special. When thinking of which wine to enjoy with your favorite brie, look no further than Moon Tree Chardonnay. Our Chardonnay has notes of pear, green apple, melon, and citrus, as well as undertones of coconut, oak, and caramel. This flavor profile pairs beautifully with brie cheese, as the acidity of the wine helps to cleanse the palate while matching the creaminess of the cheese.

Petite Sirah & Gouda

Being that Petite Sirah is a high tannin wine, it does not typically pair well with aged cheeses like gorgonzola or gruyere. Instead, enjoy Moon Tree Petite Sirah with a nice gouda cheese. Our Petite Sirah boasts notes of dark fruits like blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry, as well as warm spices and toasty hints of vanilla. Think that sounds delicious? Try pairing it with some gouda for an experience you’ll never forget.
