The combination of the COVID-19 pandemic and the chilly Fall weather has many of us finding ourselves spending more time indoors. While this may be a bummer for anyone who enjoys the warmer months, the Fall season can be just as fun! Fall is one of the best times of year when it comes to planning date nights with your significant other, and the possibilities are endless. From visiting local pumpkin patches to going on a romantic hike, there is never a shortage of things to do in the Fall, especially in our beautiful region of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
At Legacy in a Glass, we’re big fans of at-home date nights, especially during the colder months. Luckily, our range of Moon Tree wines make the perfect companions for any date night, and with six different varieties to choose from, there is truly something for everyone. Here are our tips for the perfect at-home date night this season!
Kick the Evening Off with Apps
To create a true date night experience, you’ll need some appetizers to pick at before dinner. Whether you prefer to prepare them yourself or pick up some premade ones at your local grocery store, there are certain wines that pair especially well with appetizers. One of our favorite pre-dinner snacks is bruschetta, which should be enjoyed with a crisp white wine, like Moon Tree Sauvignon Blanc, to enhance the flavors. For something like stuffed mushrooms, reach for Moon Tree Petite Sirah for an unforgettable experience.
“I learned over the years of preparing home meals for family and friends that when it comes to appetizers, keep it simple and small plates,” says Steve Pollack, Legacy’s National Sales Director. “Open a bottle of Moon Tree Sauvignon Blanc with some fresh cut up watermelon, honeydew, pineapple and apricot or fresh white grapes with a light soft cheese like Asiago. The object with appetizers is to set the palate up for the main course, not to get filled up on the appetizers. Set up your meal a few days out so you can have time to adjust and get everything you need to make it a stress-free process.”
Enjoy a Home-Cooked Meal
One of the best things about staying in for date night rather than going out is that you can save money by preparing a home-cooked meal. Depending on the vibe you’re going for, there are tons of dinner options to choose from. For a fancier date night, opt for a steak dinner paired with Moon Tree Cabernet Sauvignon or Red Blend. If you and your partner are pasta people, choose a wine that pairs well with your preferred pasta sauce, such as Moon Tree Sauvignon Blanc with a cheese sauce.
Always Say “Yes” to Dessert
Nothing says date night like a rich and decadent dessert after dinner, so don’t skimp on this part of the meal. If you’re a fan non-sweet dark chocolate or cherry-infused dark chocolate, Moon Tree Cabernet Sauvignon will pair beautifully. For cheesecake lovers, something like Moon Tree Sauvignon Blanc or even Moon Tree Bourbon Barrel Cabernet will really help bring out the flavors of the dessert to make for a truly delicious experience.
